The 2026 China Science Fiction Convention is set to take place at Shougang Park in Shijingshan District from March 27 to 29. The convention will comprise four major sections—an opening ceremony, forums and meetings, industrial promotions, and public sub-events—with more than 20 sub-events scheduled. Concurrently, the International Sci-Fi and Future Tech Expo Beijing 2026 and the 2026 Beijing Science Fiction Carnival will also be held.
This year's convention will highlight hard tech elements, and will feature the first-ever space-themed opening ceremony since its inception. The ceremony will adopt the "Star Screen" in-orbit imaging technology to capture breathtaking images of Earth against the cosmic backdrop. It will also pioneer a fully smart event mode throughout the whole process: transforming mechas, robot lion dances and martial arts shows will warm up the audience; the "Kuavo" robot will serve as a guide and the "Huanhuan" robot as a host, forming a diverse application matrix marked by in-depth robotic participation. A multi-layered immersive light spectacle is also scheduled, featuring scenes like the "Time-Space Gate" to bring a sense of traveling through time and space, as well as the holographic show "Illusion Cube". These will take the audience into a world of fantasy in no time.
The convention strives to build an institutionalized international dialogue platform to boost collaborative innovation in the global science fiction sector. High-level dialogues will be launched, including the UNESCO Creativity 2030 International Forum aimed at supporting sci-tech enterprises in their overseas expansion. The Science Fiction Planet Competition meanwhile serves as a professional competition for gathering global intellectuals, with 793 entries from 19 countries and regions and nearly 100 foreign guests participating. Regular exchanges are carried out to build collaboration channels, with cutting-edge dialogues to be held on copyrighted content development, technical standards and market cooperation, to jointly build a global sci-fi innovation community.
The convention will establish a complete industrial cycle from display to commercialization. Leveraging the core showcase to release new science fiction films, it will debut the Full Tilt Hybrid Electric Flying Car and the Embodied Intelligence Comprehensive Training Ground, among other hardcore achievements. It will host eight sub-events including the Science Fiction Game Industry Forum to efficiently connect projects with investments and scenarios, and promote signing of major projects, to facilitate the commercialization of innovative achievements on display.
This year's convention also emphasizes the public dissemination and popularization of science fiction culture. The 2026 Beijing Science Fiction Carnival will cover key locations such as the Yongding River Market, Shougang Park (SoReal Science Fiction Paradise and Blast Furnace No.3 Digital Museum), and Moshikou Historical and Cultural Block, with special markets, film screenings, and other activities arranged. Service points will be set up at transportation hubs to distribute "Interstellar Passports" (星际护照) for optimized participation experiences. The Science Fiction Consumption Map (科幻消费地图) will be released. Besides, the "ticket stub + new experiences" model has been upgraded, with exclusive consumption packages to be distributed via Alipay Tour Pass to promote distinctive cultural tourism consumption.
